On July 28, 2026, BANTERAS organised a closed-door Community Dialogue Session in George Town, Penang, bringing together 45 victims of illegal moneylending with representatives from legal aid organisations, PDRM, and AKPK.
The session provided a safe space for victims to share their experiences, understand their legal options, and receive immediate referrals for financial counselling.
Key outcomes from the session: - 12 participants received immediate legal aid referrals - 8 new formal complaints were filed through BANTERAS - PDRM confirmed follow-up on 3 previously reported cases
BANTERAS plans to hold similar sessions quarterly in major cities across Malaysia.
